Abstract A METHOD OF LAMINATING PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SHEET MATERIAL PARTICULARLY LAMINATING TUFTED CARPET GOODS WITH A SECONDARY CARPET BACKING TO REPLACE THE LIQUID ADHESIVE AND OTHER METHODS PRESENTLY EMPLOYED. A SHEET OF THERMOPLASTIC MATERIAL SUCH AS A HOT-MELT POLYMER IS INTERPOSED BETWEEN THE CARPET AND THE BACKING MATERIAL CONTINUOUSLY AS THE CARPET AND BACKING MATERIAL ARE RUN AND THEN THE LAMINATED SHEETS ARE PLACED IN AN OVEN TO MELT THE THERMOPLASTIC MATERIAL THEREBY BONDING THE SECONDARY CARPET BACKING TO THE PRIMARY CARPET BACKING.
