Abstract AN ELECTROCHEMICAL CELL IS IMPROVED WHEN AT LEAST CATALYTIC AMOUNTS OF A MODIFIED CRYSTALLINE DISULFIDE OF A GROUP VI-B METAL IS USED AS AN ELECTROCATALYST. THE METAL DISULFIDE IS MODIFIED WITH FROM 1 TO 10 MOLE PERCENT OF A LOWER ALTERVALENT ATOM. THE ELECTROCATALYST CAN BE USED AS AN ANODE OR CATHODE CATALYST.
