Abstract

Abstract An apparatus and method for determining physical properties and/or composition of a test specimen by passing a beam of polarized radiation therethrough and measuring the effects of the specimen on the beam. The effects measured are rotation of the polarization of the beam, absorption of the beam, and depolarization of the beam, all of which can be measured separately or simultaneously.
