Abstract A COMBINATION OF BARIUM AND ZINC OXIDES IS USED TO STABILIZE INFRARED TRANSMITTING LEAD BISMUTHATE GLASSES. THE RESULTING GLASSES CONTAIN 10-85% BI2O3, 10-75% PBO, 2-25% BAO, 1-10% ZNO AND 0-20% OF MISCELLANEOUS OTHER OXIDES.
