Abstract

Abstract A two part hermetically sealed glass envelope or ampoule in the form of a cathode ray tube wherein the two portions comprise a vision screen member and a cone member which are sealed along a plane containing a sheet of parallel metal wires acting as a control grid electrode. A network of parallel and equidistance grooves are formed along oppositely disposed portions of the edge of at least one of the two members. The grid wires are placed in respective grooves so as to maintain the wires in parallel equidistance relation to one another. The edges into which the grooves are formed are disposed in a common plane between the cone and vision screen members. The grooves may be arranged in either a chamfered portion of the edge, or the thicker portion of the edge of at least one of the members of the envelope.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 121 words
A cathode ray tube for a color TV receiver comprising; a. a viewing screen portion, b. a cone portion, c. at least one of said portions having two identical sets of parallel, equidistant grooves in the peripheral edge at oppositely spaced locations on said peripheral edge with the grooves of one set being aligned with the grooves of the other set, d. an internal control grid comprised of a plurality of equally spaced parallel wires, the ends of said wires being disposed in said aligned sets of grooves to maintain the equidistant parallelism of said wires, and e. means sealing said portions along the peripheral edges of both portions in substantially a common plane and securing said wires in said grooves.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 121 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 121 words
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 121 words
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 42 words
A cathode ray tube as set forth in claim 1 wherein said grooves are disposed in the major portion of the wall thickness of the peripheral edge of at least one of said portions forming the envelope parallel to said common plane.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 35 words
A cathode ray tube as set forth in claim 1 wherein an external portion of the peripheral edge of at least one of said portions is chamfered, said grooves being located in said chamfered portion.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 46 words
A cathode ray tube as set forth in claim 1 wherein an external portion of the peripheral edge of at least one of said portions is chamfered and said grooves being located within the remaining plane portion of said peripheral edge parallel to said common plane.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 49 words
A cathode ray tube as set forth in claim 1 further comprising means defining a circumferential notch in an external portion of the peripheral edge of at least one of said portions to form a step, said grooves being located within the remaining projecting portion of said peripheral edge.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 24 words
A cathode ray tube as set forth in claim 1 wherein said portion in which the grooves are located is the viewing screen portion.
