Claim 1
Independent Claim 79 words
An imaging process comprising providing an image support surface comprising a substrate, a layer of softenable material which is sufficiently electrically insulating to retain an electrostatic latent image on one surface thereof, and migration marking material, some of said marking material migrated in an imagewise configuration, electrically charging the support surface by substantially uniformly providing electrical charges across said surface whereby an electrostatic latent image correspond to or complementary to said imagewise configuration is produced on said support surface.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 79 words
An imaging process comprising providing an image support surface comprising a substrate, a layer of softenable material which is sufficiently electrically insulating to retain an electrostatic latent image on one surface thereof, and migration marking material, some of said marking material migrated in an imagewise configuration, electrically charging the support surface by substantially uniformly providing electrical charges across said surface whereby an electrostatic latent image correspond to or complementary to said imagewise configuration is produced on said support surface.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 40 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the unmigrated migration marking material comprises a fracturable layer of marking material contiguous the free surface of the softenable layer, and said migrated marking material is disrupted and laterally relocated in the image areas.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 21 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said migrated marking material is migrated in depth in said softenable layer toward the substrate.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the unmigrated migration marking material comprises a fracturable layer of marking material contiguous the free surface of the softenable layer.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 24 words
The process of claim 4 wherein said fracturable layer is of a thickness in the range between about 0.01 micron and about 2 microns.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 12 words
The process of claim 4 wherein said migration marking material comprises selenium.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 13 words
The process of claim 6 wherein said migration marking material comprises amorphous selenium.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 20 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the unmigrated marking material is dispersed throughout the softenable layer in the unmigrated areas.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 12 words
The process of claim 8 wherein said migration marking material comprises phthalocyanine.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 24 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said softenable layer is of a thickness in the range between about one-half micron and about 16 microns.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 11 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said substrate is electrically conductive.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 12 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said substrate is substantially electrically insulating.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 21 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said migration marking material comprises particles of average size not greater than about 1 micron.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 21 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said migration marking material comprises particles of average size not greater than about 0.7 microns.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 15 words
The process of claiM 1 wherein said migration marking material is electrically photosensitively inert material.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said migration marking material is electrically photosensitive material.
Claim 18
Dependent Claim 12 words
The process of claim 16 wherein said marking material is photoconductive material.
Claim 19
Dependent Claim 41 words
The process comprising the steps of claim 1 wherein said migration marking material is electrically photosensitive material, and uniformly exposing the support surface to a source of activating electromagnetic radiation whereby an electrostatic latent image is produced on said support surface.
Claim 20
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process of claim 18 wherein the charge and expose steps are performed simultaneously.
Claim 21
Dependent Claim 19 words
The process comprising the steps of claim 18 and developing the electrostatic latent image to produce a palpable image.
Claim 22
Dependent Claim 18 words
The process comprising the steps of claim 18 and developing electrostatic latent image to produce a visible image.
Claim 23
Dependent Claim 22 words
The process of claim 21 wherein the developed visible image is produced by contacting the electrostatic latent image with electroscopic marking material.
Claim 24
Dependent Claim 19 words
The process of claim 22 wherein the developed electroscopic image is fixed to the electrostatic latent image support surface.
Claim 25
Dependent Claim 23 words
A process comprising the steps of claim 22 and transferring the developed image comprising electroscopic marking material to a second image support surface.
Claim 26
