Abstract

Abstract The invention relates to the modification of ethylenically unsaturated polymers using polyfunctional quaternary amidoximidinium salts as the modifying agents. These salts are precursors to the corresponding polyfunctional nitrile N-oxides and the latter, upon being generated from the salt precursors, are the active modifying agents in the modification process. Representative of these salts is terephthalo-bis(hydroximoyl pyridinium chloride).
