Abstract

Abstract This disclosure describes a process for producing vapor transmissible polymer coated textile fabrics, and, in addition, vapor transmissible water resistant fabrics. The vapor transmissible textile fabrics are prepared by applying to the fabric a composition comprising a polymer compound having particular film stiffening temperatures and a wax, and thereafter heating the fabric and the composition to a temperature of at least about 150*C. to volatilize some of the wax. The preparation of the vapor transmissible water resistant fabrics involves an additional and subsequent treatment with a water repellent composition followed by drying and, optionally, curing at a temperature of at least 150*C. These latter fabrics are particularly useful in the preparation of rainwear.
