Abstract A NEW AND STABLE ORGANOTITANIUM COMPOUND, TETRANEOPENTYLTITANIUM, IS DESCRIBED. THIS NEW TETRAALYLTITANIUM CAN BE USED AS THE SOLE CATALYST FOR THE POLYMERIZATON OF 1-OLEFINS OR IT CAN BE IN COMBINATION WITH AN ACTIVATOR SUCH AS AN ORGANOLUMINUM COMPOUND, PREFERABLY A DIALKYLALUMINUM HALIDE. IT CAN ALSO BE EXTENDED ON A SOLID SUPPORT SUCH AS SILICA AND USED, WITH OR WITHOUT AN ACTIVATOR, AS THE CATALYST FOR OLEFIN POLYMERIZATIONS.
