Abstract
Abstract SHEET METAL IS SUBSMITTED TO AN EROSIVE SPARKING TREATINGMENT PRECEDING A CONVENTIONAL CHEMICAL DESCALING TREATMENT. THE SPARKING TREATMENT MAY REPLACE THE COVENTIONAL GRAINING TREATMENT. THE APPARATUS INCLUDES A SPARKING DEVICE ARRANGED UPSTREAM OF A CONVENTIONAL CHEMICAL DESCALING BATH AND COMPRISING A PLURAITY OF SPARKING ELEMENTS DISTRIBUTED OVER THE WIDTH OF BOTH FACES OF THE SHEET, AND A GENERATOR FOR FEEDING THE SAID ELEMENTS WITH CURRENT PLUSES PRODUCING ELECTRIC ARCS BETWEEN THEM AND THE SHEET-FACES. IT MAY ALSO COMPRISES A FEEDBACK CONTROL DEVICE FOR ADJUSTING THE FREQUENCY OF THE PULSES IN DEPENDENCE ON THE OBTAINED DEGREE OF DESCALING.
