Abstract POLYIMIDES ARE PREPARED BY REACTING AN AROMATIC TETRACARBOXYLIC ACID DIANHYDRIDE WITH A DIAMINE HAVING THE FORMULA 1-(PHENYL-R1-),2,4-DI(H2N-)BENZENE WHEREIN R1 IS S, N-H, N-LOWER ALKYL, N-ARYL. THESE POLYIMIDES ARE SOLUBLE IN CERTAIN ORGANIC SOLVENTS WHEREBY THEY CAN BE FABRICATED INTO FILMS, COATINGS, LAMINATES AND THE LIKE. THE POLYIMIDES ARE ALSO FUSIBLE AND MOLDINGS THUS OBTAINED ARE LOW IN VOID CONTENT.
