Abstract

Abstract A reusable molding kit and method of molding ingestible substances. The kit comprises a central mold portion and a multiple seal closure having a depressed portion which is inwardly directed. The central mold portion has smaller and larger end openings either of which can be sealed by the multiple seal closure. The depressed portion in the multiple seal closure causes a hollow well to be formed in the molded substance. The hollow well can be filled with various different substances to give a pleasing appearance. The depressed portion also serves as an additional mold for ingestible substances. A multicolored molded substance may be formed by filling the central mold portion with a moldable substance, filling the depressed portion with a second moldable substance having a different color, hardening the substances, removing the substances and inserting the second substance into the hollow well formed in the first substance.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 154 words
A reusable molding kit for foodstuffs and the like of the type that are introduced in the mold as a moldable material and formed to a molded shape-retaining solid said molding kit being fabricated from plastic materials and comprising: a central mold portion contoured from a larger end opening at one end thereof to a smaller base opening at the other end thereof, said larger opening being provided for removal of the shape-retaining solid from the mold and, a multiple-seal closure having a depressed portion, a peripheral edge, and dual sealing means, the first sealing means being proximate the peripheral edge of said multiple seal closure and being adapted to engage said large end opening in a moisturetight sealing relation and the second sealing means being proximate the circumference of said depressed portion and being adapted to engage said smaller end opening in a moisture-tight sealing relation when disengaged with said larger end opening.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 154 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
A molding kit as set forth in claim 1 further comprising an opening in said multiple-seal closure to permit filling of the mold when the closure is engaged with said large end opening.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 41 words
A molding kit as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a substantially flat reusable plastic closure adapted for engagement with said large end opening when said multiple seal closure is engaged in a sealing relation with said small end opening.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
A mold as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a small end closure for said small end opening when said multiple-seal closure is in a sealing relation with said large end opening.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 17 words
The molding kit of claim 1 wherein said depressed portion is circular, cup shaped and centrally located.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 429 words
A reusable molding kit for ice and foodstuffs of the type that are introduced as a moldable material and formed to a molded shape-retaining solid, said molding kit being fabricated from plastic material and comprising: a central mold portion contoured from a larger opening at one end thereof to a smaller base opening at the other end thereof, said larger opening being provided for the removal of the shape-retaining product from the mold and being defined by an upstanding peripheral rim, said smaller base opening being defined by a downwardly extending peripheral rim that is adapted to maintain said central mold portion in a stable resting position enabling its being filled through the larger opening with water or a foodstuff of the type that can be formed as said molded shape-retaining solid that conforms to the contours of said central mold portion, a multiple-seal closure having a dual sealing capability and comprising a disk-shaped sealing wall having substantially flat inner and outer surfaces, and a peripheral edge, a centrally located circular hole passing from said outer surface to said inner surface, and a ridge upstanding from said outer surface that is attached to the periphery of said centrally located hole, said multiple-seal closure further having a depressed Cup-shaped central portion inwardly directed from said disk-shaped sealing wall, said cup-shaped central portion having a base peripheral edge and terminating in a hemispherical end wall, a connecting wall joining said ridge and said base peripheral edge forming a central U-shaped groove opening on the inner surface of said disk-shaped sealing wall for sealing engagement with said downwardly extending peripheral rim of said smaller base opening, said disk-shaped sealing wall further having a peripheral U-shaped groove opening on the inner surface of said wall proximate the peripheral edge of said disk-shaped wall for sealing engagement with said peripheral rim of said larger opening when said central U-shaped groove is disengaged from said downwardly extending peripheral rim, and an intermediate opening through said disk-shaped wall between said central U-shaped groove and said peripheral U-shaped groove, a substantially flat plastic closure for engagement with said upstanding peripheral rim in a moisture-tight sealing relationship when said multiple seal closure is engaged with said downwardly extending peripheral rim; and, a base seal for said smaller base opening having a U-shaped peripheral groove adapted to engage with said smaller base opening downwardly extending peripheral rim in a moisture-tight sealing relationship when said dual seal closure is engaged with said larger end opening, said seal having a central wall configured to form a design on the molded product.
