Abstract
Abstract This invention covers piston rings, including compression and oil control rings for internal combustion engine pistons, having a bearing face coated with a hard coating, particularly exhibiting good scuff-resistance comprising either a zirconium oxide base coating or a titanium oxide-aluminum oxide coating. The coating is preferably a plasma jet applied coating formed in situ on the bearing face.
