Abstract

Abstract The specification discloses a device for generating characters on a raster type display wherein line and column signals from the display are converted into a plurality of sequential pulses on separate lines corresponding to the points of a matrix to be displayed. These generated signals are then converted into group signals corresponding to portions of different characters having a common shape. The group signals corresponding to portions of characters are combined to form entire characters and under the control of stored character information selected for display.
