Abstract A NIOBIUM LAYER IS PRODUCED ON A COPPER CARRIER BY ELECTROLYTICALLY DEPOSITING NIOBIUM FROM A MELT UPON THE COPPER SURFACE. THE SURFACE HAS AN AVERAGE DIMENSION ACROSS THE GRAIN OF AT LEAST 1 MM. AND THE CARRIER IS SUBSTANTIALLY FREE OF ELASTIC TENSION AND SUBSTANTIALLY FREE OF LATTICE DEFECTS.
