Abstract INCORPORATING A WATER-SOLUBLE INORGANIC ACID SALT (E.G., CADMIUM NITRATE) AND A WATER-SOLUBLE ALKYLENEDIAMINE POLYCARBOXYLIC COMPOUND (E.G., DISODIUM SALT OF ETHYLENEDIAMINE TETRACCETIC ACID) INTO A LIGHT-SENSITIVE SILVER HALIDE EMULSION LAYER OR A CONTIGUOUS LAYER ELIMINATES UNDEVELOPED AREAS WHERE DEVELOPMENT NORMALLY SHOULD HAVE OCCURRED CAUSED BY LOCALIZED PRE-WETTING OF THE EXPOSED PHOTOSENSITIVE SURFACE PRIOR TO IMMERSING THE PHOTOGRAPHIC ELEMENT IN THE FIRST PROCESSING SOLUTION.
