Abstract REMOVAL OF SULFUR DIOXIDE FROM HOT FLUE GAS BY PASSING THE FLUE GAS IN CONTACT WITH POTASSIUM FORMATE, SODIUM FORMATE, OR AMMONIUM FORMATE, IN EITHER A MOLTEN STATE OR IN AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION, AT A TEMPERATURE ABOVE 140* F., WHEREBY THE SULFUR DIOXIDE AND THE FORMATE REACT TO FORM PRINCIPALLY THIOSULFATE.
