Abstract A FOUNTAIN SOLUTION CONCENTRATE OF INCREASED OPERATING LATITUDE IS PROVIDED WHICH IS ADAPTED UPON VARYING DEGREES OF WATER DILUTION FOR USE WITH A PLURALITY OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF PLANOGRAPHIC MASTERS, SUCH AS ELECTROSTATIC, DIRECT INAGE, AND PHOTOGRAPHIC PLATES, BOTH PROJECTION SPEED AND CONVENTIONAL. THE CONCENTRATE COMPRISES AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF A HUMECTANT, A HUFFERED PHOSPHATE COMPOUND, AND PREFERABLY A LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT AIDEHYDE. RELATIVELY HIGH WEIGHT RATIOS OF THE PHOSPHATE ION TO THE HUMECTANT ARE POSSIBLE WITHOUT SACRIFICING A TOLERABLE ACIDIC PH.
