Apparatus for eliminating diluted sulphur oxides from combustion exhaust gases
Abstract
Abstract An apparatus for eliminating sulphur oxides from combustions exhaust gases comprising a plurality of compartments each containing activated carbon and means for washing the latter with water. A pair of inlet ducts, a pair of outlet ducts, and inlet and outlet flow control means associated with each compartment are provided so that the latter can be placed in communication with either of the inlet ducts and either of the outlet ducts, respectively, or isolated from all of the ducts, the inlet ducts branching from a common main duct for leading exhaust gas to the apparatus. One of the outlet ducts communicates with one of the inlet ducts at a position downstream of the branching point of the main duct and the other of the outlet ducts leads gas out of the apparatus.
