Abstract A SPACER FOR FACILITATING THE DETECTION OR SEPARATION OF THE CONSECUTIVE ZONES OF A SAMPLE FORMED IN AN ELECTROPHORETIC SEPARATION PROCESS IS PROVIDED. THE SPACER CONSISTS OF A MIXTURE OF A GREAT NUMBER OF SUBSTANCES, THE IONS OF WHICH HAVE DIFFERENT MOBILITIES, THE MOBILITY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONSECUTIVE IONS BEING SMALL AND SUBSTANTIALLY EQUAL.
