Suction hose for vacuum cleaning system for use with hose plug-in and hose retracting outlets

Claim 2

A flexible suction hose for use with vacuum cleaning equipment of the type having tubular suction outlet receptacles, conduits secured to one end of the receptacles and hoses connected to the other end, said flexible hose comprising an elongate flexible hose body having a foot end, a first tubular adapter fixedly secured on the foot end of said hose body, a second tubular adapter connected to said first adapter in substantially axial alignment therewith, one of said adapters being of the plug-in type and adapted to sealingly engage the internal end portion of the receptacle, and the other of said adapters having a flexible piston encircling the same and adapted to pass through a hose-retracting type of tubular suction outlet receptacle and to sealingly engage the internal surface of the conduit.

Claim 3

A flexible suction hose for use with vacuum cleaning equipment of the type having tubular suction outlet receptacles, conduits secured to one end of the receptacles and hoses connected to the other end, said flexible hose comprising an elongate flexible hose body having a foot end, a first tubular adapter fixedly secured on the foot end of said hose body, a second tubular adapter matingly removably connected to said first adapter in substantially axial alignment therewith and being readily removable from said first adapter, one of said adapters being of the plug-in type and adapted to sealingly engage the internal end portion of the receptacle, and resilient piston means on said other adapter adapted to pass through a hose-retracting type of a tubular suction outlet receptacle and to sealingly engage the internal surface of the conduit.

Claim 4

A flexible suction hose for use with vacuum cleaning equipment of the type having tubular suction outlet receptacles, conduits secured to one end of the receptacles and hoses connected to the other end, said flexible hose comprising an elongate flexible hose body having a foot end, a first tubular adapter fixedly secured on the foot end of said hose body, a second tubular adapter matingly removably connected to said first adapter in substantially axial alignment therewith and being readily removable from said first adapter, one of said adapters being of the plug-in type and adapted to sealingly engage the internal end portion of the receptacle, and resilient piston means on said other adapter adapted to pass through a hose-retracting type of a tubular suction outlet receptacle and to sealingly engage the internal surface of the conduit.

Claim 5

A flexible suction hose according to claim 2 wherein said second adapter is of the plug-in type and includes a substantially rigid tubular portion on its outer end adapted to fit in mating engagement with a tubular suction outlet receptacle of the plug-in type.

Claim 6

A flexible suction hose adapted for use with vacuum cleaning equipment of the type having a stationary hose-retracting outlet receptacle and a stationary plug-in outlet receptacle connected to a source of suction and wherein a suction conduit of greater length and internal diameter than the hose serves to connect a hose-receiving tubular member of the hose-retracting outlet receptacle to the source of suction; said flexible hose comprising an elongate hose body having a foot end, a flexible piston and a tubular plug-in adapter carried by the foot end of said hose body, said plug-in adapter having a portion adapted to be removably connected to said plug-in outlet receptacle, said piston and said plug-in adapter being positioned in substantially axial alignment with each other, and said piston being of external diameter greater than that of said plug-in adapter and adapted to be passed through the hose-retracting outlet receptacle and to sealingly engage the inner surface of said suction conduit whereby said hose may be used alternatively at both the hose-retracting receptacle and the plug-in receptacle and said hose may be stored, at least in part, within the suction conduit.

Claim 7

A flexible suction hose adapted for use with vacuum cleaning equipment of the type having a stationary hose-retracting outlet receptacle and a stationary plug-in outlet receptacle connected to a source of suction and wherein a suction conduit of greater length and internal diameter than the hose serves to connect a hose-receiving tubular member of the hose-retracting outlet receptacle to the source of suction; said flexible hose comprising an elongate hose body having a foot end, a flexible piston and a tubular plug-in adapter carried by the foot end of said hose body, said plug-in adapter having a portion adapted to be removably connected to said plug-in outlet receptacle, said piston and said plug-in adapter being positioned in substantially axial alignment with each other, and said piston being of external diameter greater than that of said plug-in adapter and adapted to be passed through the hose-retracting outlet receptacle and to sealingly engage the inner surface of said suction conduit whereby said hose may be used alternatively at both the hose-retracting receptacle and the plug-in receptacle and said hose may be stored, at least in part, within the suction conduit.

Claim 8

A flexible suction hose according to claim 4 wherein said flexible piston is fixedly secured on said hose body, and wherein said tubular plug-in adapter is also fixedly secured on said hose body and positioned axially outwardly of said piston.

Claim 9

A flexible suction hose according to claim 5 wherein said piston encircles and is attached to said plug-in adapter to thereby fixedly secure said piston on said hose body.

Claim 10

A flexible suction hose according to claim 4, wherein said piston is carried by said hose body by means of piston adapter fixedly secured to the foot end of said hose body and encircled by said piston and to which said piston is attached, and wherein said tubular plug-in adapter is matingly removably connected to said piston adapter.

Claim 11

A flexible suction hose according to claim 4 wherein said tubular plug-in adapter is fixedly secured on a portion of the foot end of said hose body, a tubular piston adapter on which said flexible piston is mounted, and means detachably connecting said piston adapter to the plug-in adapter.

Claim 12

A flexible suction hose adapted for use with vacuum cleaning equipment of the type having a stationary hose-retracting outlet receptacle and a stationary plug-in outlet receptacle connected to a source of suction and wherein a suction conduit of greater length and internal diameter than the hose serves to connect a hose-receiving tubular member of the hose-retracting outlet receptacle to the source of suction; said flexible hose comprising an elongate hose body having a foot end, a flexible piston fixedly secured on a portion of the foot end of said hose body, a tubular plug-in adapter carried by the foot end of said hose body and positioned axially outwardly of said piston, said plug-in adapter having a portion remote from said piston body adapted to be removably connected to said plug-in outlet receptacle, and said piston being adapted to be passed through the hose-retracting outlet receptacle and to sealingly engage the inner surface of said suction conduit whereby said hose may be used alternatively at both the hose-retracting receptacle and the plug-in receptacle and said hose may be stored, at least in part, within the suction conduit.

Claim 13

A flexible suction hose adapted for use with vacuum cleaning equipment of the type having a stationary hose-retracting outlet receptacle and a stationary plug-in outlet receptacle connected to a source of suction and wherein a suction conduit of greater length and internal diameter than the hose serves to connect a hose-receiving tubular member of the hose-retracting outlet receptacle to the source of suction; said flexible hose comprising an elongate hose body having a foot end, a flexible piston fixedly secured on a portion of the foot end of said hose body, a tubular plug-in adapter carried by the foot end of said hose body and positioned axially outwardly of said piston, said plug-in adapter having a portion remote from said piston body adapted to be removably connected to said plug-in outlet receptacle, and said piston being adapted to be passed through the hose-retracting outlet receptacle and to sealingly engage the inner surface of said suction conduit whereby said hose may be used alternatively at both the hose-retracting receptacle and the plug-in receptacle and said hose may be stored, at least in part, within the suction conduit.
