Abstract

Abstract The pistol of this invention incorporates a fire control group of an en bloc type removably mounted in a receiver and having a housing extremity engaging the receiver at a location remote from a hammer pivot axis, a slide reciprocably mounted on the receiver, and a barrel operated by the slide and having a downwardly projecting lug, the lug being received for limited captured movement in the frame between longitudinally spaced vertically offset limit positions, and a pair of camming pins longitudinally spaced apart in the receiver to extend laterally across the path of movement of the barrel lug and serving both to guide and stop barrel movement relative to the slide in timed relation to its movements.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 168 words
A firearm comprising a frame including a hand grip, the hand grip having a bottom portion and an opening formed within the hand grip in its bottom portion, and an en bloc fire control group removably secured to the frame, the en bloc fire control group having a housing and a hammer supported for pivotal movement in the housing between a fired position and a cocked position, the housing being bodily insertable and removable as a unit relative to the frame and including an integral, elongated stabilizing extension, the stabilizing extension being axially insertable into the hand grip and having a lower terminal portion serving as a self-locating pilot for cooperative engagement with the bottom portion of the hand grip surrounding its opening at a location spaced from the hammer pivot axis a sufficient distance to precisely locate the en bloc fire control group in preselected operative position in the frame while maintaining said en bloc fire control group against undesired rocking movement in directions of hammer pivoting.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 168 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 40 words
The firearm of claim 1 wherein the en bloc fire control group includes main spring means continuously biasing the hammer toward its fired position, and wherein the housing stabilizing extension comprises an elongated hollow member receiving the main spring means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 27 words
The firearm of claim 1 wherein the hammer of the en bloc fire control group includes trigger actuated single action sear means and double action sear means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 17 words
The firearm of claim 1 wherein the stabilizing extension forms a magazine-well wall within the hand grip.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 162 words
A firearm comprising a frame, and an en bloc fire control group removably secured to the frame, the en bloc fire control group having a housing and a hammer supported for pivotal movement in the housing between a fired position and a cocked position, the housing including an integral stabilizing extension having a portion in cooperative engagement with the frame at a location spaced from the hammer pivot axis a sufficient distance to precisely locate the en bloc fire control group in preselected operative position in the frame while maintaining said en bloc fire control group against undesired rocking movements in directions of hammer pivoting, the frame including a hand grip having panel positioning means, a pair of grip panels on opposite sides of the hand grip engageable with its panel positioning means, and a pair of ribs on opposed sides of the stabilizing extension respectively engageable with the grip panels for releasably locking the same in engagement with the hand grip.
Claim 7
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 168 words
A firearm comprising a frame, the frame including a hand grip having a bottom opening, an en bloc fire control group removably secured to the frame, the en bloc fire control group having a housing, a hammer supported for pivotal movement in the housing between a fired position and a cocked position, and main spring means continuously biasing the hammer toward its fired position, the housing including an integral elongated hollow extension member receiving the main spring means, and a plug received in the bottom opening of the hand grip and removably secured in an end of the hollow extension member to form a removable seat for the main spring means, the extension member having a portion in cooperative engagement with the frame at a location spaced from the hammer pivot axis a sufficient distance to precisely locate the en bloc fire control group in preselected operative position in the frame while maintaining said en bloc fire control group against undesired rocking movements in directions of hammer pivoting.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 168 words
