Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 201 words
A casket made completely of plastic material and adapted to be received within a frusto-conical burial vault chamber, said casket comprising: a hollow body closed by caps at its opposite ends and having a frusto-conical exterior configuration, said casket body having an elongated opening therein extending from the larger diameter end thereof to near the smaller diameter end of said casket body, said elongated opening being of a size to allow placing the remains within said casket; closure means adapted to fit and close said opening, said closure means being welded to said casket body to completely seal the remains within said casket, and forming a continuation of said frusto-conical exterior configuration of said casket body; said casket body further having two rows of recesses formed in the exterior surface thereof, one row on each side of the casket; and handle elements carried by said casket body and disposed within said recesses, no part of said caps or said handle elements projecting from the frusto-conical exterior surface of said casket body, whereby said surface is smooth and projection free over the length and circumference thereof so that it can engage the wall of a frusto-conical burial vault chamber when placed therewithin.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 201 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 27 words
A casket as recited in claim 1, wherein said elongated opening lies entirely on one side of a plane containing the longitudinal axis of said casket body.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 52 words
A casket as recited in claim 1, wherein said closure means includes a cover portion and a lid portion, said cover portion fitting on the portion of said elongated opening nearer the smaller diameter end of said casket body, and said lid portion fitting on the other portion of said elongated opening.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 105 words
A casket as recited in claim 3, wherein the end of said opening nearer the smaller diameter end of said casket body terminates in an edge disposed transversely of the longitudinal axis of said casket body, and wherein said casket body includes a shelf projecting forwardly from said transverse edge and upon which one end of said cover portion rests, the other end of said cover portion having a similar shelf thereon to receive and support one end of said lid, and the other end of said lid being undercut to rest on the closure cap at the larger diameter end of said casket body.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 31 words
A casket as recited in claim 1, further including a board made of plastic mounted within said casket body to face said elongated opening, and adapted to support the remains thereon.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
A casket as recited in claim 1, wherein said handle elements are molded integrally with said casket body to extend across said recesses.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 209 words
A casket made completely of plastic material, said casket comprising: a frusto-conical hollow body closed by caps at its opposite ends, said casket body having an elongated opening therein extending from the larger diameter end thereof to near the smaller diameter end of said casket body, said elongated opening being of a size to allow placing the remains within said casket; closure means adapted to fit and close said opening, said closure means being welded to said casket body to completely seal the remains within said casket; a board made of plastic mounted within said casket body to face said elongated opening, and adapted to support the remains thereon; a foot rest plate; and means for mounting said plate within the smaller diameter end of said casket, said means comprising: a pair of rods secured to the closure cap on the smaller diameter end of said casket body, said rods being parallel and extending axially toward said board, said foot rest plate having bores therethrough to receive said rods, and each of said rods having a row of spaced transverse bores therein; and means receivable in selected bores in said rods, adapted to support said foot rest plate in a desired position along the axis of said casket body.
