Abstract A NONWOVEN WEB COMPRISED OF POLYAMIDE FILAMENTS WHICH ARE BONDED TOGETHER AT A SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF FILAMENT CROSS-OVER POINTS BY THE ABSORPTION AND SUBSEQUENT DESORPTION OF A HYDROGEN HALIDE GAS IS PROVIDED WITH INCREASED WEB TENACITY BY ELEVATING THE MOISTURE CONTENT OF THE FILAMENTS PRIOR TO BONDING TO AT LEAST 3% BASED ON THE FILAMENT WEIGHT.
