Abstract
Abstract Known nickel plating baths can have large amounts of chloride incorporated in them. An improved nickel plating bath is described which has water-soluble bromide in it, preferably many times the weight of nickel present. The bath can include other electrodepositable metals besides nickel, so that the electrodeposition of hard nickel alloys can also be accomplished. The main result of the high bromide formulations proposed is to give deposits of nickel or its alloys which are notably free from stress. Many examples of nickel plating baths are given.
