Abstract THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A UNIFORM TONE IMAGE BEARING PHOTOGRAPHIC FILM SCREEN AND THE METHOD OF PREPARING THE FILM SCREEN FROM A PHOTOGRAPH. THE FILM SCREEN IS SUBSEQUIENTLY UTILIZED IN MAKING A MAP IN WHICH CARTOGRAPHIC SYMBOLS ARE DISPLAYED AS ALTERATIONS IN THE TONE OF THE IMAGES FROM THE FILM SCREEN, WHILE MAINTAINING THE TEXTURE OF THE PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE.
