Abstract
Abstract The phase-matching temperature for different frequencies of electromagnetic waves in LiNbO3 is increased by the addition of MgO to the melt. Variation of this temperature in successive portions of the grown crystal is minimized. The resulting product is usefully incorporated in nonlinear optical devices such as second harmonic generators and parametric oscillators designed for operation at elevated temperatures at which radiation damage is annealed out.
