Abstract
Abstract L-Glutamic acid is produced by fermentation of culture media containing methanol as the main or sole carbon source by certain strains of microorganisms of the genera Methanomonas, Protaminobacter, and Microcyclus. The glutamic acid yield is improved by the presence of thiamine in the medium, and thiamine is required for growth of some of the microorganisms.
