Abstract
Abstract Packages having pour spouts for storing food and heating the food in a toaster including a top seal having the pour spout incorporated therein in order to permit formation of the pour spout after the packages are vented by tearing through the top seal to enable food to be poured from the packages. A method of forming the packages including folding a sheet of material upon itself to form a top margin, a bottom margin and a longitudinal seam, sealing the longitudinal seam, forming a bottom seal with the bottom margin, filling the package through the top margin with food, and forming a top seal with the pour spout by folding the top margin upon itself twice.

Claim 5
Dependent Claim
96 words
The package as recited in claim 5 wherein the package incLudes a side having a gusset therein, said top margin is folded upon itself prior to being folded on said top fold line, a tear notch is cut in said top seal at a location on said top fold line spaced from said side, the package is vented by tearing through said top seal at said tear notch, and said pour spout is formed by tearing the portion of said top seal between said tear notch and said side from the package and inverting said gusset.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
89 words
The package as recited in claim 5 wherein a corner of said top margin on one side of the package is folded on a diagonal fold line and said top margin including said diagonally folded corner is folded upon itself prior to being folded on said top fold line, and said pour spout is formed by tearing through said top seal including said diagonally folded corner, unfolding the portion of said top margin between the tear and said one side of the package and unfolding said diagonally folded corner.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
25 words
The package as recited in claim 7 wherein said one side of the package includes a gusset and said pour spout includes said gusset inverted.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
192 words
The package as recited in claim 5 wherein the package includes a first side including a first gusset having a center line and a second side including a second gusset having a center line, said top margin includes a first leg disposed at said first side and including said first gusset, a second leg disposed at said second side and including said second gusset, said first leg and said second leg being folded toward the center of the package to form first and second flaps having a gap therebetween, said first flap being folded upon itself on a fold line coinciding with the center line of said first gusset, and said second flap being folded upon itself on a fold line coinciding with the center line of said second gusset to form a marginal flap, said marginal flap being folded upon itself on a top fold line to form said top seal with a venting channel formed by said gap, and said pour spout is formed by tearing through said top seal at said venting channel, unfolding said marginal flap, said first flap and said first leg and inverting said first gusset.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
171 words
The package as recited in claim 5 wherein said slits extend partially into said bottom margin, said first side flap is folded into the package on a first diagonal fold line and a second diagonal fold line, said first diagonal fold line being connected with the end of one of said slits such that a front portion of said first side flap overlaps said front flap and said second diagonal fold line being connected with a second of said slits such that a rear portion of said first side flap overlaps said rear flaps, and said second side flap is folded into the package on a third diagonal fold line and a fourth diagonal fold line, said third diagonal fold line being connected with a third of said slits such that a front portion of said second side flap overlaps said front flap and said fourth diagonal fold line being connected with a fourth of said slits such that a rear portion of said second side flap overlaps said rear flap.
Claim 10
