Abstract

Abstract An apparatus for continuously producing shaped coke bodies from a carbonaceous material, comprising means for continuously introducing carbonaceous material together with a fine-size hot heat-exchange material into a first reactor, subjecting the mass thus formed to a coking operation in the first reactor to form a low-temperature coke, then withdrawing the mass, and thereafter passing the pre-coked material together with fine-size hot heatexchange material into a second reactor and subjecting the mass therein to another coking operation at substantially higher temperatures than used in the first coking operation.
