Abstract IN THE LIQUID PHASE OXIDATION OF BUTANE THE TOTAL PRODUCTIVITY AS WELL AS THE PRODUCTIVITY OF METHYL ETHYL KETONE CAN BE IMPROVED BY TREATMENT OF RECYCLE BUTANE IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE CONCENTRATION OF CARBON OXIDES, WATTER AND METHYL EHTYL KETONE DISSOLVED THEREIN. SIMILAR IMPROVEMENTS CAN BE ACHIEVED BY RECYCLING BUTANE TO THE TOP RATHER THAN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE REACTION ZONE.
