Abstract OPTICAL BRIGHTNER COMPOUNDS DEFINED AS ISOINDOLINYL COMPOUNDS. THE OPTICAL ACTIVITY OF THESE COMPOUNDS CAN BE EMPLOYED TO ADVANTAGE IN THE OPTICAL BRIGHTENING OF A WIDE VARIETY OF NATURAL AND SYNTHETIC MATERIALS. THEY ARE USEFUL IN THE BRIGHTENING OF FABRICS AND FIND APPLICATION IN THE PREPARATION OF LAUNDRY DETERGENT COMPOSITIONS AND HYPOCHLORITE BELACH-CONTAINING COMPOSITIONS.
