Abstract
Abstract AN ADDUCT OF AN UNSATURATED UNCONJUGATED FATTY ACID OR AN ESTER THEREOF, SUCH AS A GLYCERIDE OIL, AND A MALEYL COMPOUND IS PRODUCED BY REACTING THESE COMPONENTS AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 300*F. AND 350*F. IN THE PRESENCE OF SULFUR DIOXIDE. THIS ADDUCT IS LOWER IN VISCOSITY, LIGHTER IN COLOR AND OF HIGHER ACIDITY THAN PRIOR-ART ADDUCTS OF SUCH COMPONENTS, AND THEREFORE GIVES BETTER RESULTS IN COATINGS.
