Abstract
Abstract Evaporating boats which are heated by passing electrical current therethrough are made of material which exhibits high resistance and is refractory. Such material is very brittle. Nonarcing means are provided to connect the electrical supply to the boat and at the same time to permit the boat to expand and contract as it is heated and cooled without so confining the boat or so bending the boat as to cause breakage thereof. The nonarcing means includes tight electrical connections to the ends of the boat and the support means for the electrical connections permit linear motion thereof.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim
112 words
In combination: an evaporation boat and supports and electrical connections thereto comprising; clamp means tightly fixed to an end of said boat; said clamp means including an upper and a lower plate for receiving a portion of said boat therebetween, means to space said plates and means to draw said plates together whereby said plates may be fixed to an end of said boat and be positioned parallelly thereto sufficiently tightly so as to avoid any arcing between said plates and said boat; means for making an electrical connection to said clamp means; support means for said clamp means; and means for linearly slideably affixing said clamp means to said support means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
112 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
49 words
The combination according to claim 1 including: said support means having a U-shaped slot therein, and a guide block on said clamp means, said guide block having a portion which fits into said slot in a slideable manner, and means for holding said guide block slideably in said slot.
