Abstract

Abstract An automatic measurement apparatus is provided which employs a device for scanning work to be measured by the relative movement of a sensor and the work whereby the sensor senses one or more surfaces of the work. Means are provided for generating code signals indicative of the relative movement and further means are provided for visually presenting information as a readout which indicates the locations of one or more surfaces with respect to a base or bench mark location. In a particular form of the invention, the distance between two surfaces may be automatically indicated on said readout device.
