Abstract METHINE DYE COMPOUNDS HAVING THE GENERAL FORMULA 1-((2-Q,2-Q1,4-Q2,6-((NC-)2-C=CH-),R6-1,2,3,4-TETRAHYDRO QUINOL-1-YL)-R3-OOC-NH-R4-NH-COO-R''3-),2-Q,2-Q1,4-Q2, 6-((NC-)2-C=CH-),R''6-1,2,3,4-TETRAHYDROQUINOLINE WHEREIN Q, Q1 AND Q2 EACH IS HYDROGEN OR METHYL; R3 AND R''3 EACH IS LOWER ALKYLENE; R4 IS ALKYLENE, METHYLENEDIPHENYLENE, ARYLENE OR CYCLOHEXYLENEDIMETHYLENE; AND R6 AND R''6 EACH IS HYDROGEN, ALKYL, ALKOXY OR HALOGEN. THE DISCLOSED COMPOUNDS ARE USEFUL AS DYES FOR HYDROPHOBIC TEXTILE MATERIALS SUCH AS POLYESTER FIBERS ON WHICH THE COMPOUNDS EXHIBIT IMPROVED RESISTANCE TO SUBLIMATION.
