Abstract A METHOD FOR PREPARING AN IMPROVED SHAPE SELECTIVE CATALYST COMPOSITION FROM A CRYSTALLINE ALUMINOSILICATE HAVING A SILICON TO ALUMINUM ATOMIC RATIO OF AT LEAST 1.8 AND A PORE SIZE OF ABOUT 5 ANGSTROM UNITS, E.G., AN ERIONITE-TYPE ZEOLITE, NATURAL OR SYNTHETIC, BY CONTACTING THE SAME WITH SULFUR OR A COMPOUND THEREOF, WHICH CONTACTING CAN BE PRECEDED OR FOLLOWED BY AQUEOUS METAL EXCHANGE OR IMPREGNATION WITH A TRANSITION METAL, AND REFORMING A HYDROCARBON CHARGE STOCK IN THE PRESENCE THEREOF.
