Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 138 words
In a blast furnace having at least one tuyere in a wall thereof and means for supplying a hot airblast to said tuyere, the improvement of apparatus for injecting a fluid fuel into said hot air blast through a part of said furnace at said tuyere having an opening therein, comprising an injection lance, guide means attached to said part over said opening including means for supporting said lance and means for preventing flow from said furnace through said opening, said lance being removably inserted into said airblast through said guide means and said opening, said means for supporting said lance being a guide pipe having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of said lance and said means for preventing flow being a ball valve means connected to said guide pipe through which said lance extends.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 138 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
Improvement of claim 1 wherein said part is a blowpipe attached at said tuyere and forming a part of said means for supplying a hot airblast.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 10 words
Improvement of claim 1 wherein said part is the tuyere.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
Improvement of claim 1 wherein said part is a tuyere nose attached to said tuyere and said opening is a passage extending through said tuyere nose.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 24 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said guide means further includes means for adjusting the effective length of said lance on said guide means.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said guide means further includes means for adjusting the angular position of said lance in said opening.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 42 words
The apparatus of claim 6 wherein said last-mentioned means includes a ball joint means supporting said lance and said valve means, said lance extending through said ball joint means, and means for securing said ball joint means in any desired angular position.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 41 words
The apparatus of claim 1 further including means for adjusting the effective length of said lance comprising means for supporting said lance exteriorly of said ball valve means and removable spacer means between said supporting means and said ball valve means.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 26 words
The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said spacer means is a pipe surrounding said lance and said supporting means includes a packing gland surrounding said lance.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 58 words
The apparatus of claim 9 further including means for adjusting the angular position of said lance in said opening comprising ball joint means supporting said lance and said valve means at the free end of guide means, said lance extending through said ball joint means, and means for securing said ball joint means in any desired angular position.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 106 words
In a blast furnace having at least one tuyere in a wall thereof and means for supplying a hot airblast to said tuyere, the improvement of apparatus for injecting a fluid fuel into said hot airblast through a part of said furnace at said tuyere having an opening therein, comprising an injection lance, guide means attached to said part of said opening including means for supporting said lance, means for preventing flow from said furnace through said opening and means for aDjusting the angular position of said lance in said opening, said lance being removably inserted into said airblast through said guide means and said opening.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 106 words
In a blast furnace having at least one tuyere in a wall thereof and means for supplying a hot airblast to said tuyere, the improvement of apparatus for injecting a fluid fuel into said hot airblast through a part of said furnace at said tuyere having an opening therein, comprising an injection lance, guide means attached to said part of said opening including means for supporting said lance, means for preventing flow from said furnace through said opening and means for aDjusting the angular position of said lance in said opening, said lance being removably inserted into said airblast through said guide means and said opening.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 42 words
In apparatus of claim 11 wherein said last-mentioned means includes a ball joint means supporting said lance and said valve means, said lance extending through said ball joint means, and means for securing said ball joint means in any desired angular position.
