Abstract A QUANTITY OF SOLUTION HAVING A KNOWN CONCENTRATION OF ONE OF A GROUP OF ANTISEPTIC AGENTS IS SEALED TOGETHER WITH THE ARTICLE TO BE STERILIZED IN A FLEXIBLE, AIR-TIGHT CONTAINER, AND THEN THE ARTICLE AND CONTAINER ARE WORKED SO THAT THE ANTISEPTIC SOLUTION SATURATES THE EXPOSED SURFACES OF THE ARTICLE AND CONTACTS THE ENTIRE INTERIOR SURFACE OF THE CONTAINER. THE ENTIRE PACKAGE IS THEN HEATED TO A TEMPERATURE IN THE RANGE 120*F. TO 212*F. FOR A PERIOD OF THREE TO TWENTY-FOUR HOURS, DEPENDING ON THE AGENT USE, AND SUFFICIENT TO KILL ALL BACTERIA, FUNGI, AND SPORES IN THE PACKAGE.
