Abstract

Abstract A process for hydrotreating (hydroprocessing) hydrocarbons and mixtures of hydrocarbons utilizing a catalytic composite of a porous carrier material, a rhenium component, a germanium component and a Group VIII noble metal component, in which process the chemical consumption of hydrogen is effected. A specific example of one such catalyst is a composite of a crystalline aluminosilicate, particularly faujasite, a rhenium component, a germanium component and a platinum component. Specific hydroprocesses are directed toward the hydrogenation of aromatic nuclei, hydrocracking, the ring-opening of cyclic hydrocarbons for producing jet fuel components, desulfurization, denitrification and hydrogenation.
