Abstract A TEXILE SPINNING RING HAVING A GAS BEARING SUPPORTED TRAVELLER RING IS PROVIDED WITH A GAS-OPERATED BRAKE. THE BRAKE IS POWERED FROM THE GAS BEARING SUPPLYING PLENUM AND IS MAINTAINED IN THE DISENGAGED POSITION THROUGH A VENTURI EFFECT.
