Abstract APPARATUS FOR GENERATING HEAT BY OXIDATION OF A METAL. THE APPARATUS IS COMPRISED OF A QUANTITY OF OXIDIZABLE METAL LOCATED WITHIN A CONTAINER, A SUPPLY OF OXYGEN CONTROLLABLY DUCTED TO THE METAL, MEANS FOR INITIATING THE OXIDATION OF THE METAL AND A HEAT EXCHANGER FOR CONDUCTING THE HEAT GENERATED BY THE OXIDATION OF THE METAL TO THE AREA TO BE HEATED.
