Abstract A PUMP IS DRIVEN BY AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION MOTOR OF THE SO-CALLED FREE PISTON TYPE. THE MOTOR PISTON IS FIXEDLY ATTACHED TO THE PUMP PISTON. THE RETURN STOKE OF THE MOTOR PISTON IS EFFECTED BY THE APPLICATION OF A PRESSURE MEDIUM EITHER TO THE PUMP PISTON OR TO A SEPARATE RESETTING PISTON FIXEDLY ATTACHED TO THE MOTOR PISTON. THE WORKING FREQUENCY OF THE ASSEMBLY IS CONTROLLED BY MEANS OF A REGULATING VALVE RESTRICTING THE FLOW OF THE PRESSURE MEDIUM IN A FIRST PORTION OF THE RETURN STROKE.
