Abstract

Abstract Moire instrument enabling a distant observer to locate a point into an optical plane of reference established by the instrument. The instrument has two line grids positioned in intersecting planes. For good visibility of the moire patterns certain specific conditions concerning the pitch of the grids and their separation have to be met. In order to maintain a sufficient working range, the pitch of the foremost grid may be made slightly larger than that of the rearmost grid.
