Abstract

Abstract A suction manifold assembly for pneumatic cleaning of the delivery end section of a carding machine, including a plenum section forming a suction chamber overlying the doffer cylinder in open communication with the latter and with an adjacent portion of the main cylinder, and a hoodlike extension of hinged plural sections form other plenums overlying most of the other card components in the delivery end section. A baffle movable responsive to internal static pressure variations in the plenum section varies the amount of air admitted from the other plenums into the plenum section to maintain substantially constant internal static pressure in the latter. An air intake orifice is formed adjacent the flats chain at the delivery end bight to form air currents which sweep fibers from the flats clothing.
