Foldable bed

Claim 2

A foldable bed having a mattress attached to a fore and rear rigid U-shaped frame portion, each of said frame portions being pivotably connected to link members having a length substantially equal to twice the thickness of the mattress and each of said frame portions having two U-shaped legs reinforced by a strutting and swingable into the plane of the frame portion round a joint mounted in the plane of the frame portion, said legs being mounted on the inner side of said frame portions thereby stabilizing the frame portions by their strutting.

Claim 3

A bed according to claim 1, having tubular legs with flattened ends, a bolt in each of said joints passing through a flattened end of one of said legs, said bolts being anchored at each end of the flattened ends in the tube of the frame portion and in a bracket respectively fixed to the frame portion, said brackets forming stops determining the one end position of said legs.

Claim 4

A foldable bed having a mattress attached to a fore and rear portion of the frame, said frame portions being pivotably interconnected by link members and each of said frame portions having two U-shaped legs swingable into the plane of the frame portion round a joint mounted in the plane of the frame portion, said legs having a V-shaped strutting of which the summit is connected to the yoke of the leg and of which the ends are fitted into the side portions of a leg.

Claim 5

A foldable bed having a mattress attached to a fore and rear portion of the frame, said frame portions being pivotably interconnected by link members and each of said frame portions having two U-shaped legs swingable into the plane of the frame portion round a joint mounted in the plane of the frame portion, said legs having a V-shaped strutting of which the summit is connected to the yoke of the leg and of which the ends are fitted into the side portions of a leg.

Claim 6

A bed according to claim 3, wherein the ends of each leg of the strutting is flattened and has a point engaging an aperture of the side portion of a leg.

Claim 7

A bed according to claim 4, wherein the leg ends of each strutting have a cutout of a form adapted to the profile of the leg, for instance of semicircular form, said point extending from the center of the cutout.

Claim 8

A foldable bed comprising a frame having a fore and a rear U-shaped frame portion of tubular material, the free ends of said U-shaped frame portions being pivotably interconnected by a pair of link members, a mattress attached to and supported on said frame, the length of said link members being substantially equal to twice the thickNess of said mattress such that the folded mattress may be accommodated between said fore and rear frame portion folded upon each other, pairs of U-shaped legs having each a yoke portion and side portions pivotably connected with the free ends of their side portions to the inner sides of said frame portions such that such legs may be swung into the plane of the frame portions, and strutting means in the plane of the legs and interconnecting the side portions of said legs thereby reinforcing such legs, and the legs strutting said frame portions against bending inwardly when the bed is loaded.

Claim 9

A foldable bed comprising a frame having a fore and a rear U-shaped frame portion of tubular material, the free ends of said U-shaped frame portions being pivotably interconnected by a pair of link members, a mattress attached to and supported on said frame, the length of said link members being substantially equal to twice the thickNess of said mattress such that the folded mattress may be accommodated between said fore and rear frame portion folded upon each other, pairs of U-shaped legs having each a yoke portion and side portions pivotably connected with the free ends of their side portions to the inner sides of said frame portions such that such legs may be swung into the plane of the frame portions, and strutting means in the plane of the legs and interconnecting the side portions of said legs thereby reinforcing such legs, and the legs strutting said frame portions against bending inwardly when the bed is loaded.
