Abstract NORMAL ALKANES ARE CATALYTICALLY DEHYDROGENATED IN A TWO PEROID CYCLIC OPERATION ALTERNATING BETWEEN A REACTION PEROID OF LESS THAN 60 SECOND AND A REGENERATION PERIOD 1 TO 10 TIMES AS LONG. A MIXTURE OF STEAM AND ALKANE PASSES THROUGH THE CATALYST DURING THE REACTION PERIOD WHILE A MIXTURE OF STEAM AND AIR IS USED TO REACTIVATE THE CATALYST DURING THE REGENERATION PERIOD.
