Abstract DESCRIBED IS A METHOD OF PRODUCING POROUS ASBESTOS SHEETS AND ASBESTOS DIAPHRAGMS FREE OF BONDING AGENTS. THE METHOD IS CHARACTERIZED IN THAT ASBESTOS FIBERS ARE FIRST PRETREATED WITH ALKALINE LYES AND ARE SBSEQUENTLY TEMPERED AT TEMPERATURES OF 300 TO 700*C.
