Abstract CELLULOSIC FIBERS ARE DYED BY TREATMENT WITH AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF A CATIONIC DYE SUCH AS METHYL VIOLET AND AN ALKALI METAL OR ACID MONTMORILLONITE CLAY, SUCH AS BENTONITE. THE BENTONITE CLAY INCREASES THE REACTION OF THE CATIONIC DYE ONTO THE FIBERS.
