Abstract

Abstract A process is provided for producing disintegrated (fluffed) dry cellulose fibers from baled cut pulp sheets for use in products such as diapers, absorbent pads and rolls, and the like. The sheets are shredded into particles and subsequently fed in a carrier gas stream to a disc mill with a gap width within the range of 0.1 to about 0.5 mm. wherein the shredded particles are milled until disintegrated and the fibers liberated. The fibers are then removed by the gas stream.
